Makholweni’s name was given by the Kingdom of Eswatini when he visited the area and noticed many churches had been built here. Its name simply means “Christian area”. The queen herself saw something special in this community and planted a school here with the dream of transforming peoples’ lives through education. We definitely believe this community is set apart for great things! Even with such greatness built into its history, there are many challenges working against the children and families here. High crime rates, drug abuse, prostitution, child-headed households, and poverty are just some of their coomon struggles. But we know that beneath the chaos, there is powerful hope in the name of Jesus! Our prayer is to see children and families walking in the dreams and designs God has for their lives, which will lead them to change their world for His glory!
