On Monday, July 29, 2026, a team from Northwood Church — one of our faithful ministry partners from the United States — had spent the week serving alongside us at one of our CarePoints in Belize. That afternoon, after a full day of ministry, our team was making the short trip from the CarePoint back to town for Dinner.

Along the way, a 13-year-old boy named Orlando was walking his bicycle along the side of the road. In a moment no one could have anticipated, the vehicle traveling just ahead of our team — our team was on the Children’s Cup Van — swerved toward the shoulder where Orlando was walking. The bicycle was thrown clear, but Orlando was struck and pinned beneath the vehicle.

What happened next was nothing short of extraordinary.

Without hesitation, the Northwood Church team leapt out of their van to help. One team member crawled underneath the vehicle to reach Orlando, working to free him as he cried out in pain. Our mission team coordinator, Emanuel, immediately called for emergency services. Just seven minutes later, an ambulance arrived and rushed Orlando to the hospital.

By God’s grace, Orlando received immediate medical attention. He had sustained injuries across his body, but he was alive.

In the days that followed, our team stayed close to the situation, reaching out through hospital contacts to learn how Orlando was doing. We learned he was stable. Visiting hours kept us from seeing him right away, but two days after the accident, we were finally able to enter the emergency ward and sit with Orlando and his mother.

As we talked with them, the full weight of what had happened came into focus: doctors indicated that had Orlando remained under that vehicle just five or ten minutes longer, the outcome could have been fatal.

We do not believe this was a coincidence. We believe God positioned the Northwood Church mission team on that exact road, at that exact hour, for the exact purpose of saving Orlando’s life.

Today, Orlando is home getting recover. Children’s Cup Belize’s National Director and his own children have since visited Orlando — not simply to check on his recovery, but to pray over him and to offer him something that will outlast this season: unconditional friendship and a lasting connection to our ministry family.

It is our prayer that in the days ahead, we will see Orlando growing into a young man who serves Jesus with his whole life. We believe God spared him for a purpose, and we are honored to walk alongside him as that purpose unfolds.

This story is a testimony to what happens when ministries partner together in obedience — Children’s Cup Belize and churches like those in the Life Giving Churches network in the United States, who make themselves available to come and serve alongside us in Belize. Together, in moments of both joy and crisis, we continue to give hope, inspire dreams, and change worlds.

What an incredible SERVE DAY in the community of Guinea Grass!💙

This year, we had the joy of serving our community in several special ways. From sharing the love of Jesus and blessing those who stopped by with a pair of shoes, cupcake and prayer at our cupccake station, to helping a gentleman with a heart condition by cleaning his yard. Every moment was filled with purpose and love. The gentleman and his wife were so impacted and grateful that thewife even asked to take a picture with the boys who cleaned her yard. 🙂

We also had the privilege of honouring three retired teachers in our community with a special lunch, a small fruit platter, and framed photos with encouraging words. INE OF THE MOST TOUCHING MOMENTS.... was watching our children present the gifts and pray so wholeheartedly for each teacher. Oh! My heart is melting!!! 💓 It's super amazing that our CarePoint KIDS ARE THE HANDS AND FEET OF JESUS!!! 👏🏼

Serve Day was a beautiful reminder that no act of kindness is too small when done with love. Seeing our children serve, pray, and bless others made this day even more meaningful.THEY GAVE HOPE AND SHINED JESUS' LOVE THIS WEEK. To God be all the glory! Our LORD is just sooo good! 🙌❣️

At our CarePoints, it is often more common for mothers to be more involved in activities and ministry than fathers, even though their children are part of the Children’s Cup family. Because of this, we saw an opportunity to intentionally invite and connect with fathers from our CarePoint families.

For our Serve Day, we invited fathers to join us, and we were so grateful to welcome five happy faces and a couple of them even brought their wife and kids...! In reality, this was a total win, and we were thankful for the opportunity to spend this special time together. 🙏

This day allowed us to bless these fathers, welcome them into the CarePoint, and give them the chance to hear and experience firsthand what happens here and the impact of the ministry. We shared vision, enjoyed fellowship, built relationships, and shared a meal together. 🍽

We were also able to bless them with shoes, just as we did for the children at the CarePoint, along with a special meal and a small gift as a token of appreciation. 👞

We believe they were encouraged and grateful to see how Children’s Cup cares for and blesses their children. Moments like these remind us of the importance of building relationships not only with the children but also with their families. 🌱

We are so thankful to our Lord and to everyone who helped make moments like these possible. ✨
